For all mortal things, Socrates, are forever coming and going, passing on and being replaced. And though every human being may be said to remain the same person from infancy to old age, nevertheless each is undergoing constant alteration, for he is continuously suffering both the ravages and revisions of time. All kinds of decay and renewal take place in his skin, his hair, his bones and blood, in his whole body for that matter, and not only in his body, but in his soul, too.
